Carolina Beach’s old-fashioned seaside fun is centered on the vintage boardwalk dotted with pizza, doughnut and ice cream stands. Nearby, summer amusements abound, including miniature golf, batting cages, rides and an arcade. Enjoy live music venues, tiki bars and fresh seafood served with views of the Atlantic Ocean. You can surf or paddle board, hike the white sand trails of Carolina Beach State Park or just take in the sea, sun and sights.
Ranked one of the top 10 boardwalks in the country by Food & Wine magazine, the Carolina Beach Boardwalk features classic seaside family fun with shops, restaurants, and entertainment. Located just off the beach between Cape Fear Blvd and Harper Ave., the Boardwalk District is a pedestrian only area with lots of parking and bike racks nearby. Between the commercial area and the ocean is a raised wooden boardwalk offering access to the beach and spectacular views.
Stunning exhibits of aquatic environment and wildlife connect you with the natural world. Explore marine life from salt marshes and tidal pools to a two-story open ocean exhibit featuring sharks, rays and eels. Discover a family of Asian otters frolicking in their playful habitat. Meet Luna, a rare albino alligator, and a rescued bald eagle. Feel the smooth skin of a gliding stingray and come face-to-face with a loggerhead sea turtle. Stroll through the Aquarium's outdoor garden and discover aquatic wildlife at dive shows and animal encounters. Explore more with outdoor adventures and camps. The gift shop carries a variety of puzzles, games, shirts, sweatshirts, collector’s items, stuffed animals, souvenirs, posters, toys, and much more. Visit one of North Carolina's most popular attractions located 15 miles south of Wilmington on U.S. 421, south of Kure Beach and less than a mile from the Fort Fisher Ferry terminal.
Fort Fisher was a Confederate fort during the American Civil War. It protected the vital trading routes of the port at Wilmington, North Carolina, from 1861 until its capture by the Union in 1865
